"The situation created by the Covid-19 showed that the less informed and trained citizens are about unforeseen events, the more so in the case of disasters. Unforeseen events with a negative and obstructive effect on human activity, such as the case of this health catastrophe, are completely new situations, new conditions and unexpected events for the citizens. It is only natural that in the face of such events, most citizens, at first, feel fear, anxiety and other feelings and emotions of this nature. The important thing is that gradually, as soon as possible, people get used to facing the new conditions created and looking to move forward".
With this introduction Prof. Ceko starts a new article published on his linkedin page. We stole his words for our blog because we are all living the same situation but just inspiring people to observe and reflect on the world like our colleague and friend who is also for this reason "Senator at World Business Angels Investment Forum".
Here how the article continues.
The first stage in such situations is the fear one. At this stage, people rush to buy food, water, toilet paper, medical medications, etc., which are very likely not to be used and / or don't needed. At this stage, people begin to share emotions with others about their fears and anxieties. They often complain and convey to others almost all the messages related to the issue, messages they receive from social networks and other media. At this stage people usually get bored and angry quickly. The duration of this phase depends on the level of the disaster, the health and emotional state of the citizens, their age, the possibility of reaction, help and support from others and public institutions, the state of public order, the economic situation in general, the income of the individual in particular, the regime of desire to maintain or not the situation created, the degree and level of pressure of the strata close to the government to use the situation for economic and political benefits, etc.
Then comes the learning stage. At this stage, intelligent people start and distance themselves from those phenomena and things that they are not able to control. They understand that they should not consume what harms them, starting with food and ending with fake news and bored, useless information. People who enter this stage begin to identify and clearly share the types of positive emotions. Citizens begin to worry about the situation and start thinking about how to act and react. This is also the moment when people start and realize that all citizens, as well as them, are trying to do their best.
After this phase comes the stage of facing the challenges of growth. People start and think about others and how to help them. Citizens start and think about how to make their talents and skills valuable to those in need and start and live in the present, focusing on the future. At this stage citizens begin and become even more empathetic with themselves and others and begin to appreciate themselves and appreciate others around them and beyond. People start to nurture and maintain a positive emotional state and to spread hope, looking for ways and means to adapt to new changes, practicing calmness, wisdom, positive relationships and creativity.
Then the action stage comes. At this stage people start and think and put into practice the tools and ways to destroy previous methods of work and behaviour. They demand a review of the system and the removal of those who have been close to the government and who have benefited from it illegally. Citizens demand the destruction of monopolies and oligopolies. Usually at this stage people start and become aware of the protection of the environment, mountains, forests, waters, etc. At this stage more people start and deal with art, culture, etc. Usually after such disasters, at the stage of action, an even stronger empowerment of the role of women in society is observed. After such catastrophes, in the action phase, there is a need to further support the residents of rural areas and small farmers. There is a tendency to help and create conditions for food worthy of the poor, and there is an even greater concern for those who have health problems.
After the action stage the results stage comes. Usually in this post-disaster phase there is a reduction in the number of services provided by the banking and financial industry and a more serious and qualitative focus on credit has been previously shown. In this case, I think, the banking industry will be faced with much greater difficulties, which will call into question its existence and role so far. Further, there will be a tendency for more fair competition, which has been one of the main factors and causes for the current situation with Covid-19, as there has been a lack of efficiency and effectiveness of government interventions in the right time, with the right means, with the right resources and with the right force worldwide, added here the mismanagement of the situation by financial, economic, political and health international institutions and organizations.
Personally, I think that after this Covid-19 health catastrophe, at the stage of results, what has already started will begin to be felt even more, which is the division of labour between humans and robots, or humans and robots share and work together. New, wider and more distant boundaries will be set for culture, and more people will be involved in such activities. There will be even more purposeful new boundaries for religious beliefs, as people have begun to become even more aware of the relationship between themselves, God, nature, and their emotional, economic, and health status. There will be new approaches to how we communicate, including the language and symbols we use in communication. The economy will change its appearance and content, gaining even more human and cultural elements, making the economy even more social science and even closer to the daily lives of citizens all around the world.
After the results stage the stage of change’s challenges comes. At this stage, a profound and rapid transformation of political, economic, social, cultural, sports, environmental and legal life in the world will be observed. Monopolies and oligopolies will be replaced almost entirely by open competition in ideas and products and services, because the power of the internet is already non-affordable for corporations. This stage will also be the stage of reviewing the qualities of the human being. The world will have a new renaissance, new institutions, new corporations in form and content, the business climate will be completely transformed and an explosion of start-ups will be noticed, because people will trust much more to their individual financial capabilities, than to collegial managerial skills. This will lead to an acceleration of the already started processes of "crowd-funding" and “business angels” activities. This will cause the deviation of balance from the international financial and banking system to individual finances at the local and international level. At this stage, even more opportunities will be noticed for a better world and for a more humane civilization. The Renaissance will run parallel to Humanism. People around the world will become even more aware of the possibilities and abilities of the human being to act individually and together facing any challenge. The new governments that will be created will act in a more coordinated manner. The future has never been bright for humanity. It is the people themselves who have illuminated it.
